Bug Classification and Attributes

By I)ruid

In the advisory template, you may have noticed two header fields titled Classification and Attributes. We have come up with a list of meatspace classifications for the bugs to help identify what area(s) of the meatspace a particular bug applies to:

  • Mind – Brain hack, memory, psychology, etc.
  • Body – The “meat” in meatspace, the human body
  • Tech – Interaction with physical technology
  • Social – Society or Human interaction
  • Flora – Plants, fungus, etc.
  • Fauna – Animals, insects, etc.
  • Microbial – Microscopic life, viral, bacterial, etc.
  • Geological – Earth, stone, crystal, etc.
  • Meteorological – Climate, weather, etc.

Whereas “attributes” indicate what type of security issue the bug is as well as it’s properties, such as:

  • Local
  • Remote
  • Authentication
  • Bypass
  • etc.
